“The measure of a society is its
reverence for children” - Dr. Arnold Gesell
I'm Dale Petrulis. I have been a teacher,
a principal, and an educator for 38 years, and a
parent for 33 years.
I believe that Redondo Beach deserves superior
schools.
Although it is difficult for a district to balance the
needs of children, parents, teachers, staff, and the
community, Redondo Beach schools MUST find that
balance.
Dale's plan for Redondo Beach schools
- Support the highest quality instructional program for ALL children by
providing ongoing professional development for ALL staff and Board Members
- Promote safe, clean schools, as well as nutritious breakfast, lunch,
and snack programs
- Continue the high quality counseling support programs
Get parents involved in their children’s education:
- Provide many opportunities for parents to learn more about the curriculum
and how they can partner with teachers
- Promote increased student attendance to support instruction and
increase district revenues despite lower State funding
Make it easier for teachers and staff to excel:
- Provide ongoing professional development and training for all staff
- Provide instructional programs in the same year that the state adopts
them to ensure that professional development is available and paid for by the state, not the school district
Our school board must provide the leadership:
- Communicate effectively and cooperatively with teachers, staff, and
parents
- Locate new budgetary resources for the district, schools, and special
programs. (This is what I do currently as a school district administrator.)
As a board member, I will balance the needs of students, the freedom of teachers and staff, and the need for oversight and accountability by the district and the Redondo Beach community.

As former principal of a California Distinguished School and a PTA award-winner, I know
how to build strong schools. The answer is cooperation and collaboration. Parents, staff,
teachers, and administrators need to work together to help our students succeed. How do
we do that?
