Testimonials
Dale Petrulis brings to the table years of experience in both the classroom and
administration. She has the skills to develop the team philosophy needed to implement
the requirements and restrictions coming from the state, with the needs and desires of
the teachers, in order to create the optimum environment for students to learn.

- Kathy Swift, small business owner, lifelong Redondo Beach
                       resident, and involved parent

As a principal, Dale Petrulis always stood behind her teachers and her students. Working
for Dale, I always knew that I had someone in my corner who would support me both
professionally and personally. If there was something I needed -- whether it was
materials for my classroom, money to attend a conference, or support dealing with
classroom issues, Dale was there.

Dale had a strong vision and high expectations for our students and a deep compassion
that I have rarely seen in other leaders. She was able to lead a staff with diverse
personalities and unite them with a common purpose and vision to help raise student
achievement. Our test scores went up every year that Dale was our principal! When Dale
saw a need, she set out to find a way to fill that need. She was undaunted. I was
blessed to have had Dale as my leader and I continue to be blessed to have her as a
mentor.

I have such respect for Dale as an educational leader. Having her on the school board
would be a magnificent contribution to the Redondo Beach community!

As principal at La Ballona Elementary School in Culver City, Dale Petrulis raised the level
of expectations for teachers, parents, staff, and students. As teachers, she guided us to
become better than we imagined. She taught us how to interpret assessments so we
could recognize individual student needs and alter our teaching practices to meet the
needs of all of our students. She kept the expectations high so that we kept striving for
continuous academic progression and success. She provided us with the necessary
backing and assistance to ensure our success.

She expected parents to be proactive and take a role in their children's education and
school. She ensured that students and parents had the support they needed to succeed,
no matter what their culture and background, primary language or economic level.

currently "Director of Programs" for BookEnds,
a non-profit agency that supports literacy

Mrs. Petrulis is open-minded and a good listener. She makes decisions based on clear,
objective thinking that is grounded in logic. Her vast knowledge of funding sources,
grants, and budgets has proven to be invaluable to me as entry-level manager. To say
that I learned a great deal from Mrs. Petrulis would be an understatement.

Redondo Beach will appreciate Dale's collaborative and inclusive organizational
management style and leadership ability that pushes schools and district support staff to
produce dramatic and measurable improvement in student performance. There should be
a  few case studies recorded on her work and included in School Administrator degree
programs.

Dale is a consummate advocate for students. Her work with schools does not end with
improving teacher and administrator skills and student academic performance. She will
work to add quality before and after school programs for students and parents. She will
support the use of instructional technology to prepare students for their future.

All school employees and community members are given a voice that is heard to make a
difference in how the school can be improved.

Electing Dale Petrulis will have a positive influence in the future of the students in the
Redondo Beach School District and its Board of Education.
